Please note: the figures below are based on the Nannytax 2025 Nanny Salary Guide and the 2026/27 Nannytax Salary Calculator

The Jones family live in central London. Both parents work long hours and have one daughter, Emily, who has just started school. Abigail can take Emily to school three days a week, and Daniel can pick her up two days a week. During school holidays, Emily is cared for by her grandparents, so no childcare is needed then.

The average gross hourly rate for a nanny in central London is £19.51, based on this hourly rate and 18 working hours per week, the Jones Family’s total cost of employing their nanny is £396.37 per week, £1,717.60 per month, and £20,611.20 per year.

They require wraparound care on weekdays, covering mornings (7–9am) and afternoons (3–5:30pm). In addition, they need full-time childcare (7:30am-5:30pm) for 10 weeks of the year during school holidays.
