Employing a nanny is a fantastic option for busy working parents who need fuller flexibility with their childcare. However becoming an employer means there’s certain laws and legislation to consider. This can result in time-consuming admin, payslip calculations plus dealing with HMRC. Don’t worry, that’s where we’re here to help – this stuff has been a full time job for us at Nannytax since 1993!
So what are the 3Ps?
Payroll Plus, Pensions, Protection – The Perfect Solution to Nanny Employment
Payroll Plus
Payroll Plus is our premium payroll service designed for busy parents who want an end-to-end nanny payroll service with minimal involvement on their part.
Payroll Plus includes everything you get with our standard Nannytax Payroll service plus the additional time-saving benefits below:
- We make your nanny’s salary payments on the last working day of each month
- We pay your tax and National Insurance liabilities to HMRC on your behalf
As well as saving you time this means:
- You can rest assured knowing your tax and NI liabilities have been paid correctly and on time.
- You can provide your nanny with the stability of a set pay day each month.
Once you join Nannytax Plus, we’ll become your payroll agent meaning if HMRC have any queries they’ll come to us to deal with these, not you.
Pensions
All employers must provide a workplace pension for their employee(s) if they qualify for automatic enrolment. Enable Auto Enrol is our Nanny Pensions service that means our pensions experts can manage your nanny’s pension plus on-going duties to ensure you’re compliant with The Pensions Regulator.
Here’s a quick summary of what our pensions team will do for you:
- Set up an employer pension account with NEST
- Monitor your employee’s pension status each month
- Automatically enrol your employee into the pension scheme if they qualify
- Calculate pension contributions to be deducted from your employee’s salary
- Submit your Declaration of Compliance to The Pensions Regulator and re-declare your compliance every 3 years
Protection
When you employ someone in your home it is a legal requirement to have Employers’ Liability Insurance. Employers’ Liability Insurance will help you pay compensation if an employee is injured or becomes ill because of their job.
Enable Insurance is our specialist Nanny Employers Liability Insurance policy specifically designed to meet the needs of families who hire a nanny. This annual policy brought to you by Fish and Nannytax includes up to £10million Employers Liability Insurance to cover any legal costs and compensation. Plus up to £5million Public Liability Insurance to cover you if your employee’s duties involve them being in a public place, often the case with nannies who take the children out and about.

How to add the 3 Ps to your Nannytax Subscription
For new customers joining Nannytax you can add Payroll Plus, Pensions and Enable Insurance (Nanny Employers Liability Insurance) to your subscription when you Join Nannytax.
