SMP and nanny shares

Are you pregnant? Did you know that if you work for more than one family and you earn £109* gross or more per family per week you are entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) from each family you work for?

Nannies who work for only one family are entitled to 90% of their average gross weekly earnings for the first six weeks. The remaining 33 weeks of the SMP period are paid at the rate of £136.78* gross per week (or 90% if the average weekly earnings are lower). Nannies who work for two or more families get the same amount, but from each family (providing the salary from each family is £109* or more). That means that if you work for two families you can get up to £273.56* (depending on your salary from each family); if you work for three families you can get as much as £410.34*; if you work for four families you can get as much as £547.12* and if you work for five families you can get up to £683.90* per week for the remaining 33 weeks of your maternity pay period (please note that these amounts are subject to tax).
