We are all aware of the increasing numbers of families looking for part-time nannies. A part-time nanny offers many families an ideal solution – the flexibility and security of a nanny at a much more manageable cost.
But part-time nannies or nanny shares can be difficult to find.
Nannytax has been made aware of a company called SharingCare, which offers a solution to this problem. It puts local families in touch with each other with a view to sharing childcare, making that care more affordable and flexible. Families register their details and the site then matches families within the specified area with similar or complementary childcare needs. The families can then go jointly to an agency to find a nanny to share – enabling them to share the ongoing costs of the nanny, as well as the initial placement fee.
Many families have traditionally taken the view that a nanny is simply too expensive as a childcare option but for many, only a nanny can offer the flexibility that is needed. SharingCare aims to show parents that by sharing the cost, a nanny can be an affordable option for more families.
SharingCare is not an agency – it is merely a means of matching local families who are looking for part-time or flexible childcare. SharingCare does not recommend individual nanny agencies but it does advise families to use approved agencies to help them find the right care.
SharingCare are aware of REC and the recently formed Association of Nanny Agencies (ANA). They would like to be able to direct families to member agencies and are hoping that those agencies will direct parents seeking part-time or flexible care to them.
