Nannytax have been made aware of severe delays of the processing of Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) advances, with some of our clients waiting in excess of ten weeks to receive theirs. Nannytax immediately contacted HMRC and have not only been promised quick resolution of this problem, but we also received a formal apology.
Caroline Elvin of HMRC’s Process and Strategy says: “On behalf of Debt Management and Banking I apologise for the problems you have been experiencing recently in relation to SMP advances. In July we had resource issues when work scheduled originally for May and June was put back into July and coincided with other peaks of work around SA and PAYE. This severely stretched our ability to handle the incoming calls we received and the issue of PAYE repayments. We have now taken steps to minimise the impact on customers and in particular to ensure that we process advances as quickly as possible.”
Nannytax will be monitoring this issue closely and will be posting updates on our website. In the meantime we would like to ask for your patience in this matter.
