Laura Chelmick is Professional Nanny of the Year

We would like to congratulate Laura Chelmick, a 24-year-old nanny from south west London, who has been declared The Professional Nanny of the Year 2005. Nannytax was, together with a Morton Michel, Chiltern College and PANN on the panel of selecting this year’s nanny of the year, and with four excellent nannies on the shortlist, this was not an easy choice to make. However, it is clear that Laura does deserve the title and there is no doubt that she will be an excellent spokes-woman for the nanny industry. Laura, who cares for three children aged one, two and a half, and four and a half, works for Henrietta and Archie.

The second prize was awarded to Hellen Prideaux from London; a 25-year-old nanny to four children aged three, three, eight and 11. Two Highly Commended Awards go to Hannah Gardner and Fi Star also from London.

The Professional Nanny of the Year Award was first held in 2004. It is organised by the Professional Association of Nursery Nurses (PANN) in association with Nannytax. Nominations for the award are sought from fully qualified nannies (NVQ 3 or equivalent), and nannies must be nominated by their employers. Candidates are also required to have a full CRB Enhanced Disclosure Check.

PANN Senior Professional Officer Tricia Pritchard said: “The Professional Nanny of the Year Award was first held last year to recognise the highly professional, important role nannies play in providing high quality, safe and flexible childcare to thousands of families throughout the UK. This Award is designed to raise the profile of professional nannies, giving them the recognition they so richly deserve.”

We would like to encourage families to put their nanny forward for this year’s Professional Nanny of the Year award. Please contact PANN on 01332 372 337 for more details.
