How Nannytax can help

More nanny agencies are starting to switch to gross wage policies, but we do realise that it is a big undertaking not just from an administrative point of view; with resistance from many nannies it certainly doesn't make things easier.

If the nanny is used to talking net, then the concept of a gross salary can be very confusing and of course what she is really interested in is how much she has in her pocket at the end of each pay period.

We send out tax tables to you at the beginning of each tax year and if you keep these to hand you can explain to the nanny what a gross wage means in net terms. For figures outside the tax table you can simply call Nannytax on 0845 226 2205 and we'll be happy to do calculations for you. Or, if you prefer, you can email us on info@nannytax.co.uk

If you haven't received the tax tables, or would like extra copies, just let us know. The tax tables are also available to download as PDFs (please see links at the bottom of the page). Please note that the tax tables are for guideline purposes only, the figures are rounded to the nearest pound. The figures are based on 2007/2008 tax and National Insurance rates for a person on a standard tax code. Where a nanny has more than one job or wage in the same week then these figures do not apply.

Tax tables for 2008/2009 tax year will be available in May 2008.
